Handbags Are Getting Really Weird, And I Like It.

I’d like to put this in a much more eloquent fashion, and maybe this is just the 1am-foggy-brain talking, but the trend for handbags lately is just for them to be, well, weird. There’s really no other way to put it because there isn’t a shape, color, or texture in particular that is being given preference. This season, if your bag is oddly-shaped, accent-embellished, virtually unusable, or all of the above, then it’s definitely in style.

To me, this started to become popular around the time that Jacquemus debuted his notorious Chiquito bag, which he recently made even smaller. To me, this set the bar high for other designers, and soon we were all sucked into a world where the less practical means more Instagrammable. It feels like just a year ago we were all walking around with our Kate Spade and Tory Burch bags and that was it, easy peasy. But those were simpler times, and I’d be totally lying if I said it was more fun than carrying my belongings around in an unnecessarily obnoxious raffia bag. We did the work for you and rounded up our favorite impractical, oblong, and/or insanely extravagant bags:
