To be honest, I’m not one for uber-trendy items. I definitely didn’t participate in the neon, biker shorts, or train conductor hat trends, but I will admit to loving the tie-dye trend, à la Proenza Schouler, of course. But I’m not here to talk about the big trends that are spread across NYFW street style collages, I want to touch on the little details that a select few are wearing and imitating.

These, to me, are more enticing than *regular* trends because of their quiet nature. When you’re wearing dad shoes, you’re wearing dad shoes, and everyone knows you’re wearing dad shoes. Micro-trends are less understandable; when you half-tucked your shirt in 5 years ago, most people thought you just were running late. But a handful of peers saw it on Chiara and told you how much they loved it. It’s like a little club, I guess? Anyways, here are 4 micro-trends I’m loving for this summer:

The Bottega-Fueled “Paper Bag Ankles” (term via MR)

Prompted into the It-Girl atmosphere after Bottega’s Resort 2020 collection came to light, this trend is definitely going to get a lot of attention this summer. Amy Smilovic of Tibi is ahead of the curve (seen below).
